Abstract

This study aims to review the implementation of the obligation of living expenses for parents who migrate towards their children from the perspective of Islamic law and analyze its practice in Tambakboyo Village, Tawangsari District, Sukoharjo Regency. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive-analytical methods, data were obtained through interviews with fathers who migrate, mothers who live with their children, children concerned, and local religious figures. The results of the study indicate that although the provision of living expenses is generally carried out through regular remittances, the emotional aspect and direct attention to children are still neglected. In the view of Islamic law, the obligation to provide living expenses remains attached to parents regardless of geographical distance, including physical and spiritual living expenses. Higher awareness is needed from parents who migrate to maintain a balance between providing material and emotional needs for children, in order to ensure the welfare and growth of children as a whole.
