Abstract

This study employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, structured and semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the Zikkiri Barazanji tradition in aqiqah ceremonies consists of three main stages: planning, preparation, and implementation, in which Islamic educational values are integrated. The planning stage is carried out through family deliberations to determine the needs and arrangements for the tradition. The preparation stage involves community cooperation and mutual assistance in preparing various equipment and requirements for the ceremony. The implementation stage includes the recitation of Zikkiri Barazanji, simaan of the Qur’an, dhikr, shalawat, the shaving of the baby’s hair, and collective prayer. The tradition embodies five Islamic educational values: worship, faith (aqidah), manners and morality (adab and akhlak), religiosity, and social values. The value of worship is reflected in expressing gratitude to Allah SWT and carrying out religious activities; the value of aqidah is manifested through fostering love for the Prophet Muhammad SAW; the values of manners and morality are reflected in early character education and respect for parents, guests, and religious leaders; the religious value is manifested through dhikr, shalawat, and prayer; while the social value is reflected in mutual cooperation and the strengthening of social ties among community members. Thus, the Zikkiri Barazanji tradition serves not only as a religious practice passed down from generation to generation but also as a means of Islamic education, character formation, spiritual development, and the strengthening of social solidarity within the community. In its implementation, this tradition contains values that are in accordance with Islamic teachings, making it relevant as part of local wisdom that supports Islamic education and social life in the Jeneponto community.
