Penerapan Pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level dalam Meningkatkan Motivasi Belajar Peserta Didik SMA Negeri 1 Palu

Abstract

This research aims to increase students' motivation and mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. The background to this research is the low learning motivation of students who tend to rely on friends and do not participate actively in doing assignments. This research used qualitative methods with subjects of 30 students in class X.E4 at SMAN 1 Palu. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, documentation and interviews, which were then analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in both motivation and student learning outcomes from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle II, students' learning motivation reached the "Very Good" (53%) and "Good" (47%) categories, with no students in the categories below. Correspondingly, the average post-test score for learning outcomes also increased from 74.83 (Good criteria) in Cycle I to 82.67 (Very Good criteria) in Cycle II. It was concluded that the TaRL approach was effective in increasing students' motivation and mathematics learning outcomes by creating learning that was appropriate to their level of cognitive ability. This research recommends continued development and collaboration to design more inclusive and engaging learning in the future.
