Abstract

 The Role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in the Formation of Disciplinary Character of Students at the Ummu Kaltsum Private Elementary Madrasah, Laikan Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City Currently, the world of education is entering an era of global competition, which is filled with challenges and problems. One of the challenges that can be seen at this time is the crisis of character in children, especially regarding the character of discipline that can be seen from their daily behavior and social life. To overcome these challenges, efforts are needed for the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in forming a disciplined character by providing direction and also being an example for their students. By providing direction and being an example, it will make it easier for teachers to form a disciplined character because teachers are figures who should be imitated by their students.This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in forming the character of discipline of students at the Ummu Kaltsum Private Elementary School, as well as to know the application of the role of teachers in forming discipline and the factors that influence the formation of this character.The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques.The results of the study indicate that the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in shaping the character of discipline in students includes mentoring, role models, and providing guidance. Teachers apply various methods in building a character of discipline, such as conceptualizing students to maintain discipline, planning guidelines, and providing direct direction. In addition, factors that influence the success of the formation of a character of discipline include teacher self-awareness, cooperation with parents, and support from the community.
