Islam dan Kearifan Lokal Suku Makassar Perspektif Hadits Nabi Muhammad SAW
Abstract
This article aims to analyze the relationship between the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad’s hadith and the local wisdom values of the Makassar ethnic community, particularly Sipakatau’, Sipakainge’, Sipakalebbi’, and the philosophy of Siri’ na Pacce. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review, using normative analysis of hadith and sociocultural studies of Makassar culture. The findings indicate that Makassar local wisdom values represent a contextual manifestation of Islamic moral teachings derived from the Prophet’s hadith, especially concerning respect for human dignity, social responsibility, ethical conduct, modesty as part of faith, and social solidarity. In addition, social traditions such as doang-doangang and tudang sipulung reflect the concept of living hadith as practiced in everyday communal life. This article argues that Makassar local wisdom plays a strategic role as a medium for the actualization of hadith teachings in contemporary social life while simultaneously strengthening religious moderation amid the challenges of globalization.
