Urgensi Kepemimpinan Sekolah dalam Meningkatkan Prestasi Belajar Siswa Pada Bidang Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMU Negeri 1 Bula Kabupaten Seram Bagian Timur
Abstract
This study aims to examine the strategic significance of school leadership in improving students' learning achievement in Islamic Religious Education at SMU Negeri 1 Bula, East Seram Regency, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research collected data through in-depth interviews with the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, vice principal, and students, complemented by classroom observations and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, encompassing data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the trustworthiness of the findings was ensured through source and methodological triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal's leadership plays a pivotal role in enhancing students' academic achievement through five interrelated dimensions: (1) the formulation of quality-oriented academic policies, (2) continuous teacher supervision and professional development, (3) the reinforcement of a school-wide religious culture, (4) the optimization of instructional resources and learning facilities, and (5) the establishment of collaborative partnerships with parents and the wider community. These leadership practices have contributed to increased student motivation, stronger learning discipline, more active classroom participation, and improved academic performance in Islamic Religious Education. The study concludes that effective school leadership serves as a fundamental catalyst for developing a sustainable educational ecosystem that promotes high-quality Islamic Religious Education and continuous improvement in students' learning achievement. The findings further provide practical implications for strengthening instructional leadership models in secondary schools, particularly within the context of Islamic Religious Education.
